There’s going to be arguments, of that we are sure.
And we will start the arguments with this bold statement concerning pizza in the Finger Lakes region: The true arguments begin with the #2 spot on this list. We don’t care who you want to be #2, but whoever you choose is not even close to #1 on our best pizza in the Finger Lakes. Let it begin.
#1 ANIELLO’S – Corning

This is it. Just go in, order two hot slices and your drink, go sit down. In about 3 minutes your two delicious hot slices will be unceremoniously placed before you, and your epicurean delights begin. First with your ears, as the large thin aluminum oven pan is set on the hard surface of your booth table. Then, with your eyes – the almost bubbling mozzarella, glistening in its mix of yellow, orange, red and brown bits. Next, it’s with your nose – repeating the aromatic invitation that greeted you on the street, beckoning you into the parlor. And then, when you pick up your first slice – gently separating it from the other – and your fingers feel the hot cheese wrapping around them as you attempt to place it near the tip for your first bite – along with the dusty filaments of oven baked flour from the bottom of the crust – your sense of touch is is in play. There is only one of the five senses remaining – the reason we put Aniello’s Pizza at the top of the Best Pizza in the Finger Lakes list…the taste.
WHERE: the eastern end of Corning’s famous Market Street, in the middle of the southern side of the street.
STYLE: order at the counter, have a seat. Yes, they didn’t write anything you said down on paper, they got it. Delicious subs and other traditional Italian items, too….but you came here for the pizza. If you feel there is a strong tradition of an old Italian family legacy suspended in the air, that’s correct.
SPECIALTY: Yes, you guessed it.
SOMETHING TO KNOW: You can park out back, too. Oh, it’s pronounced ANNE-YELL-OHs…not ANNE-EEL-LEE-Ohs. Yeah, we know.
The arguments for #2 will begin here, soon! Come back to see.
